Without the use of an electronic system for managing activities to achieve and certify operational readiness, the effort to complete required elements of DOE Order 425.1 for large projects would be overwhelming. RCAPTS (Readiness Certification Assurance Process Tracking System) is a web-based software tool which helps manage Contractor or DOE Readiness Reviews. The RCA process and this software package is used at several DOE sites to plan, execute, and validate readiness of high-risk facilities and systems. The primary aim and value of RCAPTS is to promote accountability among project stakeholders, communicate expectations for the various elements of achieving operational readiness, and validate that requirements have been met, in a systematic way that flows with the project. At the end of a project, RCAPTS can provide an organized set of electronic evidence files for a follow-on readiness review team. The current software is recently updated to provide improved functionality, tailoring capability, and new user-friendly interface.
