Volatile adducts of rare earth pivaloyltri-fluoroacetonates and hexafluoroacetylacetonates with hexamethylphosphoric triamide
The syntheses of the previously unknown complexes Er(PTFA){sub 3}{center_dot}HMPA (I), Nd(PTFA){sub 3}{center_dot}HMPA (II), Er(HFA){sub 3}{center_dot}2HMPA (III), and Nd(HFA){sub 3}{center_dot}2HMPA (IV) (PFTA is a 1,1,1-trifluro-5,5-dimethylhexane-2,4-dionato (pivaloyltrifluoroacetonato) ligand, HFA is 1,1,1,5,5,5-hexafluoropentane-2,4-dionato (hexafluoracetylacetonato) ligand, and HMPA is hexamethylphosphoric triamdide) are reported. The IR spectra prove the coordination of {beta}-diketonate anion and HMPA, including the complexes in the vapor phase. The electronic absorption spectra of toluene solutions of the complexes I and II give evidence of the coordination of the second HMPA molecule on adding the free ligand. The temperature dependences of saturated vapor pressure of the compounds obtained have been determined by the flow technique. The TGA study has shown that the complexes I and II exhibit high thermal stability and are vaporized on heating in an air stream.
