On July 9, 1992, LTV placed an order with Davy International for the design, fabrication and commissioning of a new runout table coiling temperature control systems for the DHCC hot strip mill through an approved electrical/automation upgraded project. This paper will discuss the coiling temperature upgrade, with focus on level 2 automation, mathematical modeling of the strip cooling process and the operator man-machine interface.
