The Belvidere Municipal No. 1 Landfill site is an inactive landfill situated on Boone County Conservation District property in Belvidere, Illinois. The main concern onsite was soil contaminated with polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in an old drum storage area. Exposure to site-related contamination has been limited in the past and in most cases had been eliminated through remedial activities. This site poses no apparent public health hazard at this time. Low-level contamination exists in on-site sediments and soil, but exposure is limited and contaminant concentrations are below levels of health concern.
