In 1992, representatives from all over the world gathered together in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for the “Earth Summit.” At this conference, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) was signed by 150 countries agreeing to stabilize the atmospheric concentration of greenhouse gases. This outcome marked the beginning of a long and difficult journey in the international politics for controlling global warming.
