Power Generating, Inc. has designed, built and by July, 1995, expects to be operating a solid fuel-fired, combustion turbine system. This work is being conducted at the Western Research Institute in Laramie, Wyoming, with primary backing from the U.S. Department of Energy. This presentation will review overall design and discuss selected equipment components incorporated in the prototype system. Construction of the facility and prototype system will be illustrated through the use of photographs and actual construction drawings. The operational status of the system will be discussed as well as problems that have been encountered during initial start-up and operation. The presentation will also review test results to date and describe plans for future testing.
