The samples were stationary (not rastered during the experiment). Therefore the laser drilled through the powder sample the adhesive and to , the laser drilled through the powder sample, the adhesive and to the substrate (which can be seen in the photograph). <10 laser shots actually ablated sample. The remaining ~50 laser shots added to the spectral noise decreasing the S/N and making an accurate , decreasing the S/N and making an accurate determination of LOD difficult. If the number of laser shots are decreased, the amount of noise will be reduced increasing the S/N and most likely lower the LOD , increasing the S/N and, most likely, lower the LOD.
