Direct measurements have been made of the reactive removal rate of triplet methylene with H{sub 2}S, SO{sub 2}, and NO{sub 2}, yielding values for the rate constants of (2.0 + 0.3) x 10{sup -12}, (4.9 {+-} 0.6) x 10{sup -12}, and (6.9 {+-} 1.5) x 10{sup -11} cm{sup 3} molecule{sup -1} s{sup -1}, respectively. H{sub 2}, CO, CO{sub 2}, N{sub 2}O, CH{sub 3}Cl, (CH{sub 3}){sub 2}CO, and C{sub 6}H{sub 6} were found to have rate constants less than approximately 10{sup -14} cm{sup 3} molecule{sup -1} s{sup -1}. 23 refs., 2 figs., 1 tab.
