La{sub 2{minus}x}Sr{sub x}CuO{sub 4+{delta}} with 0 {le} x {le} 0.4 was fluorinated. Nonsuperconducting samples with x {le} 0.05 were rendered superconducting after fluorination. {Tc} is little affected for x {ge} 0.1; low-field diamagnetic properties are improved for these compositions. Superconducting transition temperatures were estimated through magnetization and electrical conductivity measurements. Magnetic measurements were carried out in the 4.2--50 K range employing a vibrating sample magnetometer equipped with a liquid He cooled cryostat.
