A study of the 16O (e, e'p) reaction at deep missing energies
- Massachusetts Inst. of Technology (MIT), Cambridge, MA (United States)
The 16O(e,e'p) reaction was studied in the first physics experiment performed at Jefferson lab Hall A. In the quasielastic region cross sections were measured for both quasi parallel and perpendicular kinematics at q = 1000 MeV and ω = 445 MeV. From the data acquired in quasi parallel kinematics longitudinal and transverse response functions RL and RT were separated for Emiss < 60 MeV. The perpendicular kinematics data were used to extract RLT, RT, and RL + VTT/VLRTT response functions for the same Emiss range and for Pmiss < 310 MeV c. The 16O( e, e'p) cross section was measured in the dip region at q = 1026 MeV and ω = 586 MeV for 10 MeV < Emiss < 320 MeV. This thesis presents the results for the missing energy continuum ( Emiss>25 MeV) from this experiment.
