Ionothermal carbonization of sugars in a protic ionic liquid under ambient conditions

Journal Article · · Carbon
OSTI ID:1044691
A mesoporous carbon has been synthesized by an ionothermalcarbonization of glucose or fructose at low temperature underambient pressure. The success of this ionothermal approach was based on the suppressed solvent volatility and latent acidity of aproticionicliquid. The carbonaceous material obtained can be applied to conformal carbon coatings and carbon composite fabrications.
