Minimization of hazardous-waste generation. Book chapter

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:104373

As will be documented throughout this chapter, waste minimization is very often economically beneficial for an industry and also results in improved environmental quality. Waste reduction techniques do not have to be based on high technology or require large capital expenditures. Many techniques are just simple changes in the way materials are handled in the production process. The techniques which can be used in a management program to minimize waste generation are discussed in detail in Subsec. 5.1.2. An approach for developing and implementing a multimedia waste-minimization program using these techniques is discussed in Subsec. 5.1.3.
