Natural uranium supply 1990-2005

Journal Article · · NUEXCO. Monthly Report to the Nuclear Industry
OSTI ID:103502
Given current production capacity, inventory levels, and additional production capability, the supply of natural uranium will be more than adequate to meet expected demand during the forecast period. However, temporary supply-demand imbalances will cause short-term variations in spot market prices. NUEXCO projects cumulative world uranium requirements of 2.2 billion pounds equivalent U3O8 during the period 1990-2005. Inventory presently on hand will meet approximately 200 million pounds of those production. Thus, NUEXCO projects world uranium production will total 2.0 billion pounds equivalent U3O8 during the forecast period. Of that amount, 82 percent will come from specified production sources; production where the expected source, schedule, and production cost are specifically identified in the forecast.
