In February, Congress began consideration of the President`s FY 1993 budget. DOE`s budget request will be discussed throughout the month of March, as House committees with jurisdiction hold hearings. Energy Secretary James Watkins began the DOE budget review process with testimony on February 25 before the Energy & Power subcommittee of the House Energy & Commerce Committee. By the end of March, the House Appropriations Committee is expected to conclude its hearings on the Energy & Water Appropriations bill, which funds DOE`s programs.
