Title: PHENIX study of dihadron correlations in Au plus Au collisions at root s(NN)=200 GeV: jet quenching and medium response

Journal Article · · Indian Journal of Physics

We provide a detailed survey study of dihadron azimuthal angle ({Delta}{phi}) correlations in a broad range of transverse momentum (0.4 < p{sub T} < 10 GeV/c) and centrality (0-92%) in Au+Au collisions at {radical}s{sub NN} = 200 GeV. The evolution of the jet shape and yield with p{sub T} seems to suggest two distinct components at the away-side pairs: a suppressed jet fragmentation component around {Delta}{phi} {approx} {pi}, and a medium-induced components around |{Delta}{phi}-{pi}| {approx} 1.1. The former dominates p{sub T} > 5 GeV/c and the later dominates at p{sub T} < 4 GeV/c.
