The influence of radiation damage on the mechanical properties of fiber reinforced plastics (FRPs), which are considered as candidate materials for the insulation of superconducting magnets for nuclear fusion reactors, has been investigated. In order to cover the material spectrum produced at present, different types of FRPs (epoxies, polyimides and bismaleimides as resins; two- and three-dimensional E-, S- or T-glass fabrics as reinforcements) have been included in the test program.
