A Major Oil Operator indicated that they are considering drilling and completion of two horizontal wells to reach the same reservoir area in the Midway-Sunset field. This gave us an opportunity to show them the potential benefits of using a single cased well equipped with two laterals, instead of two conventional horizontal wells. This new case will require drilling a new well. Because of the relatively higher expected fluid production rate, larger-diameter latcrals will be needed. Correspondingly, this calls for a larger casing diameter. Two basic designs have been produced, for two different casing diameters, respectively 8 5/8 inch and 10 3/4 inch. A major difficulty in this case is the very low reservoir pressure ( 50 to 75 psig) which led us to consider two different artificial lift systems.
