This report details the theoretical and experimental activity performed this month. The analysis of the MHD stability of flute perturbations in axisymmetric nonparaxial mirrors has been started. The preliminary screening has been completed of the possible candidates for a stabilizer. The experimental portion of the work commenced with preparations for experiments on the plasma equilibrium response to an externally applied small magnetic field in the MHD-anchor region. A brief discussion of the results of the preliminary experiments is provided. Plans for future studies are described.
