Acute environmental toxicity and persistence of BIS (2-ethylhexyl) phosphonate: A chemical agent simulant
Technical Report
·
OSTI ID:10160348
The present studies were undertaken to evaluate the environmental fate and effects of bis(2-ethylhexyl) phosphonate (BIS). Using air concentrations of 255 and 2350 mg BIS/m{sup 3}, mass loading and deposition velocities were determined for soils and foliar surfaces. Minimal contact toxicity was noted for sagebrush, tall fescue, and short-needle pine. All physiological indicators studied in response to BIS exposure were transient. Impacts to soil microbial processes were transient. The persistence of BIS in soils and on foliar surfaces was determined.
