Tb{sub 6}Fe{sub 1-x}Co{sub x}Bi{sub 2} (x = 0, 0.125, 0.250, 0.375) compounds have been synthesized, and the structural and magnetic properties are reported. All of the compounds crystallize in the hexagonal Zr{sub 6}CoAs{sub 2}-type structure at room temperature, but low temperature x-ray diffraction measurements on the Co-doped samples Tb{sub 6}Fe{sub 0.750}Co{sub 0.250}Bi{sub 2} and Tb{sub 6}Fe{sub 0.625}Co{sub 0.375}Bi{sub 2} show a splitting of the Bragg peaks, indicating a symmetry lowering structural phase transition at {approx}40 K. Two magnetic transitions are observed, with T{sub C1} - 250 K and T{sub C2} - 70 K. While the high temperature transition corresponds to the ferromagnetic ordering of the Tb moments, the lower transition is most likely linked to the structural transition.
