Precise measurement of the top quark mass in the dilepton channel at D0

Journal Article · · Submitted to Phys.Rev.Lett.
We measure the top quark mass (m{sub t}) in p{bar p} collisions at a center of mass energy {radical}s = 1.96 TeV using dilepton t{bar t} {yields} W{sup +}bW{sup -}{bar b} {yields} {ell}{sup +} {nu}{sub {ell}}b{ell}{sup -} {bar {nu}}{sub {ell}}{bar b} events, where {ell} denotes an electron, a muon, or a tau that decays leptonically. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 5.4 fb{sup -1} collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We obtain m{sub t} = 174.0 {+-} 1.8(stat) {+-} 2.4(syst) GeV, which is in agreement with the current world average m{sub t} = 173.3 {+-} 1.1 GeV. This is currently the most precise measurement of m{sub t} in the dilepton channel.
