The Energy Storage Program provides research to develop more efficient, less expensive, safer, and more reliable rechargeable batteries and other electrochemical systems for use in electric vehicles, electric utility load leveling, and other energy storage applications. In addition, the Energy Storage Program provides research to develop efficient and cost-effective thermal energy storage systems for building and industrial applications as well as developing techniques for chemical hydrogen production. Energy Storage Systems (EST) announces on a bimonthly basis the current worldwide information available on all aspects of energy storage. This publication contains the abstracts of DOE reports, journal articles, conference papers, patents, theses, and monographs added to the Energy Science and Technology Database during the past two months. Also included are US information obtained through acquisition program or interagency agreements and international information obtained through the International Energy Agency`s Energy Technology Data Exchange or government-to-government agreements.
