PREPP (Process Experimental Pilot Plant) rotary kiln plant performance overview

The Process Experimental Pilot Plant (PREPP), operated by EG and G Idaho, Inc. for the Department of Energy, Idaho Operations Office, has been designed and constructed for the incineration of transuranically contaminated waste stored at the Idaho National engineering Laboratory. The facility is currently being tested to verify operability of components and systems and to develop information necessary for performing an air quality compliance trial burn. Modifications are also in progress to correct operational deficiencies and to enhance the safety of the plant. This paper summarizes some of the results of the last test series. 3 refs., 1 fig.
