Thermal performance ratings for solar collectors
The solar collector thermal performance ratings contained in the Directory of SRCC Certified Solar Collector Ratings provide both the manufacturer and the solar consumer with a means for making informed comparisons between collectors over a broad range of applications. Collectors listed in the SRCC Collector Directory have been certified as meeting the minimum standards and test methods for certifying solar collectors. The thermal performance rating numbers for collectors as published in the directory are calculated from test date generated from either ASHRAE Standards 93-77 or 96-1980 (SRCC Standard 100-81). The SRCC rating numbers represent the all day energy output of a collector and are expressed in terms of thousands of Btus (British thermal units) per day per panel. The directory is divided into four sections representing the main generic types of collector panels currently certified by SRCC and includes unglazed liquid flat plate collectors, glazed liquid flat plate collectors, air collectors, and single axis tracking concentrators.
