Summary of NUREG-1154: loss of main and auxiliary feedwater event at the Davis-Besse Plant on June 9, 1985
On June 9, 1985, Toledo Edison Company's Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Staion, located in Ottawa County, Ohio, experienced a loss-of-all-feedwater event while the plant was operating at 90% power. The event - which involved extensive operator actions inside and outside the control room - included a number of equipment malfunctions and operator errors. This article is condensed from Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Report NUREG-1154 (Loss of Main and Auxiliary Feedwater Event at the Davis-Besse Plant on June 9, 1985, July 1985), which documents the findings of an NRC team sent to Davis-Besse by the NRC Executive Director for Operations in conformance with the staff-proposed Incident Investigation Program.
