Contribution of preindustrial CO{sub 2} and climate feedbacks on the Maunder Minimum cooling
Preliminary results of the temperature decrease simulated by means of the Adem thermodynamic climate model for the Maunder Minimum (1660-1720), with solar irradiance dimmed by 0.43% were present in a former work (GW7-Vienna). Those computations did not include the effects of the atmosphere CO{sub 2} decreased in its preindustrial level, and of the 3 climate feedbacks: those due to cryosphere cloudiness and atmospheric water vapor. All of these 4 mechanisms reinforce the original climate change. The present work displays their contribution to the cooling, the combined 4 contributions amount about 90%, the largest one being that of the CO{sub 2} and the smallest of the clouds. Comparison with results from other authors and the change of precipitation pattern are also presented.
