Reliability of operation of spray boiler steam coolers of a 500 MW energy unit

In a majority of modern boiler units, control of live steam temperature is achieved using a simple economic method of spraying feed water. In the P-57-1 boiler of unit No. 9 of the Troitsk GRES, sprayer No. 3 is positioned before the output stage of the high pressure convective steam and is designed for control of the superheating temperature of the live steam beyond the boiler. The reliability and operation of this spray boiler steam cooler is discussed. (JMT)
