H. R. 1330: This Act may be cited as the Comprehensive Wetlands Conservation and Management Act of 1991, introduced in the US House of Representatives, One Hundred Second Congress, First Session, March 7, 1991
This bill was introduced into the US House of Representatives on March 7, 1991 to amend the Federal Water Pollution Control Act to establish a comprehensive program for conserving and managing wetlands in the United States. Wetlands play an integral role in maintaining the quality of life through material contributions to our national economy, food supply, water supply and quality, flood control, and fish, wildlife, and plant resources. Wetlands serve important ecological and natural resource functions. However, much of this resource has sustained significant degradation, resulting in the need for effective programs to limit the loss of ecologically significant wetlands and to provide for long-term restoration and enhancement of the wetlands resource base. One key element of this bill revolves around permits for activities in wetlands.
