Fuel motion model for LMFBR unprotected loss-of-flow accident analysis
From national topical meeting on mathematical models and computational techniques for analysis of nuclear systems; Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA (8 Apr 1973). In mathematical models and computational techniques for analysis of nuclear systems. A description is given of a new model (SLUMPY) which treats fuel motion in sodium voided subassemblies under conditions appropriate to an unprotected loss-of-flow accident in an LMFBR. SLUMPY is designed to operate as a module of the SAS2A multichannel accident analysis code. SLUMPY uses compressible hydrodynamics to describe a growing slumped'' region which develops as fuel melts and provides a prediction of the motion of the fuel under the influence of gravity, fission gas, and fuel vapor driving forces. 6 references.
