Responsibilities include effective management of DOE-sponsored STI to ensure broad dissemination balanced against statutory access limitations as appropriate. What is OSTI's Role?Within DOE, OSTI is responsible for coordinating scientific and technical information activities and for leading the STIP collaboration.Throughout its history, OSTI has worked with representatives across the agency-in laboratories, field offices, and Headquarters-to facilitate access to information and to promulgate policy and best practices for STI management.OSTI works to support this important complex-wide collaboration by increasing communications beyond the designated STI points of contact and engaging others across DOE in projects that advance STIP goals. The STIP FrameworkThrough the use of innovative technologies and open communication, the STIP framework supports and contributes to DOE's STI products and other important sources of DOE-sponsored STI. OSTI maintains information management systems and web-based databases, such as OSTI.GOV and DOE PAGES, to enable full use of DOE-funded STI and provides a suite of web products and services for publicly releasable STI, as well as systems to manage protected categories of STI as appropriate.
