Title: Yukawa hierarchies from split fermions in extra dimensions

Technical Report ·
DOI:https://doi.org/10.2172/753238· OSTI ID:753238

The authors explore a mechanism for generating the Yukawa hierarchies by displacing the left- and right-handed components of the Standard Model fermions in a higher-dimensional space. The authors find a unique configuration of displacements which fits all quark and lepton masses and mixing angles, with a prediction for the strange quark mass m{sub s}{sup MSbar} (2 GeV) about equal to (1.19) x (V{sub ub}V{sub cb}/V{sub us}){sup 1/2} x m{sub b}{sup MSbar}(m{sub mb}) about equal to 120 MeV.
