The Applied Mathematics Division of Argonne National Laboratory has been developing the existing ALICE Image Processing System into a computer-aided digitization, encoding, analysis, and display system for mapped information pertaining to the environment and its elements. Recent software developments expanded the capabilities of the ALICE System and the scope of potential applications for the system. This interim report describes the ALICE System and the software that has been developed to date for the processing of mapped environmental information used in city and regional planning, environmental analysis, energy assessment, and resource management. 24 figures.
