Quartz crystal microbalances: a refined technique for determining changes in mass loading from frequency shifts

Current methods of converting quartz crystal microbalance frequency shifts to mass are frequently quite inaccurate. An improved method is presented which reduces the error to a fraction of a percent. The algorithm requires a knowledge of the crystal function and the mass loading distribution.
