DEVELOPMENT OF A GENERAL METHOD OF EXPLICIT SOLUTION TO THE NUCLIDE CHAIN EQUATIONS FOR DIGITAL MACHINE CALCULATIONS (thesis)
A procedure was developed for digital machine calculation of nuclide concentration behavior with time. This involved an explicit solution to the nuclide chain equations in a form most suitable for calculation with a limited number of significant figures. The procedure was programmed for the IBM-7090 with provision made for interlocking chains; limitations were examined by solution of a number of example problems. Study of the results indicated that the calculation is practical for application to reactor depletion problems and to other problems which can be represented by the equations. (auth)
