Title: Technical Review of ZPR-I Accidental Transient - The Power Excursion, Exposers, and Clinical Data

Technical Report ·
DOI:https://doi.org/10.2172/4199167· OSTI ID:4199167

On June 2, 1952, 15:52 hours, a large reactivity change was made manually in a ZPR-1 assembly causing a power excursion of about one kwh, which resulted in damage to the reactor core components and radiation exposure of some of the operating personnel to perhaps several hundred rep. A description is presented of the incident, estimates are made of the exposures, and early clinical data are summarized.
