User`s guide for UTCHEM implicit (1.0) a three dimensional chemical flood simulator. Final report, September 30, 1992--December 31, 1995
UTCHEM IMPLICIT is a three-dimensional chemical flooding simulator. The solution scheme is fully implicit. The pressure equation and the mass conservation equations are solved simultaneously for the aqueous phase pressure and the total concentrations of each component. A third-order-in-space, second-order-in-time finite-difference method and a new total-variation-diminishing (TVD) third-order flux limiter are used to reduce numerical dispersion effects. Saturations and phase concentrations are solved in a flash routine. The major physical phenomena modeled in the simulator are: dispersion, adsorption, aqueous-oleic-microemulsion phase behavior, interfacial tension, relative permeability, capillary trapping, compositional phase viscosity, capillary pressure, phase density, polymer properties: shear thinning viscosity, inaccessible pore volume, permeability reduction, and adsorption. The following options are available in the simulator: constant or variable time-step sizes, uniform or nonuniform grid, pressure or rate constrained wells, horizontal and vertical wells.
