A method for finding self-consistent beam optics in the presence of strong space charge defocusing effect is developed which is based on the eigenvectors of the transfer matrix. It allowed us to obtain solutions for the Σ-matrix in the case of the space charge tune depression as high as 25%. These solutions were used to build a matched initial distribution of particles for tracking simulations with the Synergia code. The results of simulations are presented and discussed.
