In collaboration with researchers at the University of California at San Francisco (UCSF), Lawrence Livermore scientists developed a novel system for recording widespread brain activity using highdensity, implantable electrode arrays. The research appears in the January 2, 2019, edition of the journal Neuron. As described in the paper, the system is capable of continuously recording the activity of nearly 400 single neurons over a period of at least five months from devices distributed in multiple brain regions.
