Testing theoretical stellar interior and HED plasma opacities at the Sandia Z
- The Ohio State Univ., Columbus, OH (United States)
This project represents the renewal of the longstanding and well known Opacity Project (OP) and aims to complete the opacities calculations using the state-of-the-art R-Matrix method as originally envisioned. The most direct aim of the project was to theoretically verify plasma opacities measured at the Z-facility at the Sandia Z National laboratory (SNL), and to explore potential applications to astrophysics and plasma physics (Bailey et al., 2015), in which three members of the OSU team (see Participants) were co-authors (Sultana Nahar, Chris Orban, Anil Pradhan).
