Validation of Analytical Calculations for the NSLS-II Injection Shutters with FLUKA Monte-Carlo Program
- Brookhaven National Lab. (BNL), Upton, NY (United States)
The NSLS-II injector consists of a 200 MeV linac and a 3.0 GeV booster synchrotron for beam injection into the 3.0 GeV electron storage ring. The linac serves as the initial accelerator for the facility and is designed to produce 15nC/pulse at 200 MeV. The linac typically operates at a 1Hz rep rate. The linac injects 200 MeV electron pulses to the booster synchrotron to be accelerated to the energy of 3.0 GeV. The injection process to the booster is done through a transfer line from the linac to the booster ring. Similarly, the booster serves as the accelerating synchrotron to ramp up the electron energy to 3.0 GeV before being injected into the storage ring through a transfer line.
