We have measured the b-quark production cross section for $$\mid y \mid$$ < 1 using a sample of dimuon events collected with the D0 detector in $$p\bar{p}$$ collisions at $$\sqrt{s}$$ = 1:8 TeV at the Fermilab Tevatron. The measured b-quark cross section is consistent with $$O(\alpha^3_s$$) QCD predictions, but lies at the upper limit of the theoretical uncertainties which is a factor of 1.5 above the mean value. A study of the difference in azimuthal angle of the two muons is in good qualitative agreement with the $$O(\alpha^3_s$$) QCD predictions
