This Yucca Mountain Project Technical Status Report (TSR) on site characterization is the first in a series of reports that will be issued at approximately six-month intervals during site characterization. Summary information on the technical status and progress of site characterization activities described in the Site Characterization Plan is reported in the TSR. In addition, progress made toward the initiation and conduct of site characterization activities is included. For this report, information on the technical progress made by Yucca Mountain Project participating organization has been compiled covering the period from April 16, 1989, through September 30, 1989. 48 refs.
