Annual AIAA/Utah State University Conference on Small Satellites, 5th, Utah State University, Logan, Aug. 26-29, 1991, Proceedings
Abstract
The present conference on small-satellites technology discusses small spacecraft activities at JPL, robotic lunar exploration using the Pegasus winged rocket and ballistic lunar capture, small spacecraft design for comet and asteroid missions, a system design for commercial microsatellite missions, a small primary solar-electric propulsion demonstration satellite, U.S. Army tactical-satellite communications, and the the DSI small satellite launcher. Also discussed are the Leostar small spacecraft for LEO communication missions, miniaturized parallel processors for small satellites, a common-pressure-vessel Ni-H battery, yaw control for solar array performance enhancement, the detection of primary and secondary cosmic radiation aboard SOESAT, a commandable rate scanner for spinning-spacecraft attitude sensing, optical processing of microwave signals for small satellite payloads, and the tracking of small satellites with translated GPS.
