Title: Comparison of single and split core concepts for the advanced neutron source

Conference ·
OSTI ID:6946945

An Advanced Neutron Source producing ultrahigh neutron flux intensities is being designed for materials sciences, isotope production, and fundamental physics research. Split/sup 1 -4/ and single/sup 5 -7/ reactor concepts have been proposed for the Advanced Neutron Source (ANS). The purpose of this paper is to document the calculated performance of these two reactor designs. Both reactor designs are capable of producing a peak thermal neutron flux of 10/sup 20/ n/(m/sup 2/s).
