Abstract

Measurements in the entire angular range are carried out for elastic scattering of ..cap alpha.. particles with energies 36.6 and 50.5 MeV and /sup 3/He ions with energies 34, 50, 60, and 72 MeV by /sup 6/Li nuclei. The experimental data obtained have been analyzed within the framework of the optical model. The contribution to the scattering of the mechanism of elastic transfer of clusters was calculated by the distorted-wave method with a finite interaction radius.

Angular distributions of ..cap alpha.. particles elastically scattered by /sup 3/He nuclei have been measured at laboratory energies 56.3, 59.1, 65.4, 66.9, 72.0, and 95.5 MeV in the range of c.m.s. angles 20--160/sup 0/. Calculations of the angular and energy dependence of the differential cross sections have been made with use of theoretical phase shifts obtained as the result of analysis of a system of seven equations in the framework of the resonating group method. The theoretical angular distributions reproduce the main characteristic tendencies of the energy dependence observed experimentally. Effects of triton-cluster exchange in {sup 3}He inelastic scattering on {sup 6}Li nuclei

In the angular range 10{degrees} - 170{degrees} (laboratory system), differential cross sections for {sup 3}He inelastic scattering on {sup 6}Li nuclei with excitation of the 3{sup +} (E{sub x} = 2.185 MeV) state are measured at energies of 50, 60, and 72 MeV. At large angles, an anomalous increase in the cross section is observed. This effect cannot be explained in the framework of purely inelastic scattering. It is shown that the incorporation of the triton-exchange mechanisms in analysis by the DWBA method (using an optical-model potential found anew from elastic scattering) makes it possible to describe the entire bodymore »« less

Anomalous large-angle scattering of {sup 3}He and {alpha}-particles on strongly clusterized nuclei such as {sup 6}Li and {sup 7}Li is in the main determined by the clusters exchange mechanism. This gives an opportunity to use the anomalous scattering for investigation of the cluster structure of nuclei in addition to more traditional methods such as transfer reactions (for example, ({sup 6}Li,d), ({sup 6}Li,{alpha}), ({sup 7}Li,{alpha})) and quasielastic knockout reactions. A semiclassical and a quantum-mechanical analysis are carried out of the angular distributions of elastic and inelastic scattering of ions of {sup 3}He, {sup 6}Li, {sup 9}Be, and {sup 12}C by {sup 58}Ni nuclei with excitation of the 2{sup +} state ({ital E}{sub {ital x}}=1.45 MeV) at near-barrier energies. A combined description of the data on elastic and inelastic scattering permits a decrease of the ambiguity in determination of the real nuclear potential at the periphery of the nucleus. Comparison of the potentials obtained shows that at sufficiently large distances ({ge}7F) the nuclear interaction potential is proportional to the massmore » of the incident particle.« less
