Title: V/sub 3/Ga-NbTi magnet system with different currents from one power supply

Conference · · IEEE Trans. Magn.; (United States)
OSTI ID:6336392

In recent years the manufacture of Nb/sub 2/Sn or V/sub 3/Ga composite wires by the bronze process has been mastered. Nb/sub 3/Sn was investigated more intensively than V/sub 3/Ga although in high fields V/sub 3/Ga is expected to be superior. Accordingly, V/sub 3/Ga tape was used in a 17.5 Tesla magnet, and multifilamentary V/sub 3/Ga conductor in a 10 Tesla magnet. An 11 Tesla V/sub 3/Ga-NbTi magnet system is described which was produced in a laboratory. A numerical quench analysis for the system is presented. 9 refs.
