Exporters are having a tough time
This is an article which is a survey of petroleum activity in the Far East. The article is accompanied by a detailed color map showing the activity in detail. Highlights of the article are that China has become the world's third largest driller and fourth largest producer. In addition, India has benefitted from falling oil prices and its drilling activity is increasing significantly. The newest area in this part of the world is the Pakistan area where the exploratory successes and active licensing procedures have been very successful. Also, new producers are being attracted to Malaysia because of liberalized production sharing contracts. Areas of decreased activity or interest are Indonesia which has responded by offering better incentives to form producers and to Thailand where activity has virtually halted.
