Generalized transmission parameter equations are derived for the electrical damping introduced by dynamic filters applied as SSR countermeasures, in function of the unstable system negative damping. Two leading SSR remedial concepts of the active type are analyzed: the Dynamic Stabilizer for which an adaptive thyristor-firing angle, oriented to an optimum device rating, is derived and the NGH Scheme for which a linearized model, suitable for the machine-network interaction circuit representation, is developed based on the Fourier expansion of the RC discharge pulse train. A comparative parametric study is carried out.
