Nontraditional machining; Proceedings of the Conference, Cincinnati, OH, Dec. 2, 3, 1985
Abstract
Advances in cutting, grinding, and machining technology are examined in reviews and reports. Topics examined include water-jet and hydrodynamic cutting and machining, electrochemical techniques, lasers in machining, abrasive jet and flow machining, and ultrasonic machining and grinding. Consideration is given to metal cutting with abrasive water jets, the fundamental principles of fluid-jet machining, wire-cut and vertical electrical-discharge machining with computer numerical control, high-power CO/sub 2/ cutting and welding lasers and YAG laser drilling, YAG laser processing in the aircraft industry, and an ultrasonic impact grinding technique for electrode forming and redressing. Diagrams, drawings, graphs, photographs, and tables of numerical data are provided.
