Title: Multiphase flow through cleats in coal. Final report, September 1990-December 1992

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:5717831

The research work provided data for the effective cleat porosity, cleat aperture, and cleat network interconnectedness properties of five coal drill cores. These data revealed that measured values of effective cleat porosity and absolute water permeability made parallel to face cleats are incomparable with those made perpendicular to bedding planes. The data incomparability occurs because the coal cleat network geometry and interconnectedness are strongly orientation dependent. A round-robin inter-laboratory testing program provided data for assessment of the precision and bias associated with three different cleat porosity test methods.
